18th April 2010, Forest School Volunteer day at Hallr Wood
Here is a report from the Forest School.
Twenty three people enjoyed Hallr Wood in full sunshine on Sunday. It was a very welcome sight and a great opportunity to see the wood in detail before the ground and leaf cover shades it. |
We welcomed many new volunteers. Ben and Nick from Somerset Youth Volunteering Network brought six youth volunteers to join our youth volunteers Torin, Declan and Jacob. Two new families joined us and Graham from Glastonbury. They brought additional skills to the team and were able to help with leveling and carpentry, sewing parachutes and sawing lots of logs. Thank you Mark and Bill for sawing so many logs on a hot day. Thank you to the large work party that shifted tree trunks across the site.

As always there was plenty of time for fun...
And here's what a young person had to say.....
Before the event I was feeling kind of nervous.
The day was full of new experiences and people, and was really enjoyable.
I learnt that volunteering is actually really fun.
I would love to do another day.
An outdoor day again would be great.
At the end of the day I felt really happy, and quite proud of how much we'd done.
