In June 2010 we took 130 volunteers to help with the running of the Bath & West Show environmental area.
The volunteer team that took part consisted of 14 to 60 year olds who helped to run a diverse range of activities over a period of 4 very busy and very hot days. These activities ranged from stewarding, face-painting, spray tattooing, survival craft area in the woodland, helping with the Shire horse display and tug of war, helping out Carymoor environmental centre with their childrens recycled art tent and running a Revolution display stand.
The Bath & West Society very kindly gave us a large area to raise our camp and stay overnight.
The majority of volunteers arrived and set up our camp which consited of a camp kitchen, a social area, a seating area and then a lovely festival type tent area. Teams were devised to sort out and manage cooking, cleaning and waste disposal. We then went off to help the B&W Society set up the show by moving chairs and tables, marking out area's, helping stand holders to get on site.
We then set up the 5 different activity areas and had loads of fun.
Volunteers were rewarded with a residential camp, entrance to the show and an evenings canoeing on the lake.
Everyone went home very tired, happy and sun tanned.
