Hot dog crews, the Bath and West show and animal neglect

At this year's Bath and West show over 4 days 92 volunteers found and responded to 51 animals at risk of neglect or death. This included 49 dogs and a racing pigeon left in hot cars (some cars were in excess of 30c in temperature when tested).
During the week the volunteers and RSPCA inspectors also found and responded to a horse that was having its genitals beaten by its owner with a riding crop, 3 lost dogs and a number of confused visitors who had misplaced their cars in the sea of parking.
In addition to this great work all the crews talked to the public and raised awareness of the dangers of animals in cars and except for those few owners that were formally warned for there attitude to their pets.
The ‘Hot Dog Crew’ got a resounding voice of support from both the public and other staff working at the show.
Stop press
We are now in discussions to take this great initiative and run it next year at both the Bath and West show and the Badminton Horse Trials.
