Our exciting new youth support project launches soon and you can hear VN staff and young people talking about the project on BBC Radio Somerset from 7.15am on Monday 21st November 2011 - or listen again on the iPlayer after the show has finished.

FOLLOWING THE SUCCESS OF OUR LUFTON REVOLUTION ***************************
We are looking for a team of dedicated volunteers to come together to become our Montecute Crew for 2012. You will need to be able to commit to at least one day per month helping out with some of the following activities: Helping man an event at Montecute, sitting on the feed back and planning crews for the next Revolution event, feeding back on volunteer activities on site, heading a volunteer activity for other volunteers and lots of other things (you choose). In return we will offer you a variety of accreditted training with certificates, a chance to try out a job that you are thinking of doing in the future and gaining job and university references for the future.

Employment, Training and Housing information day in association with Yeovil Job Centre run as part of the reAction project and attended by 20 Young People and 9 support organisations.

Fun in the woods

Young people descended on Huish Woods Scout Camp on August 3rd after setting up camp, and having a spot of lunch we started the orienteering trail. In the blistering heat all 4 teams did really well! The residential continued with a hive of activity including night time caving, manhunt, rounders, circus fun, blindfold trail and lots of good eating. We also got all the volunteers to take part in some training! Great fun was had by all! Check out a few of the photo's below...

Samaritans 24/7 Shop Success

The Yeovil Samaritans came and took over the shop on Saturday July 23rd until Sunday July 24th, and had great fun giving out lollie pops, balloons, stickers, beer mats and leaflets. Not to mention the delicious cakes! And all for FREE for the public of the Quedam. The weekend was a great success in recruiting 5 new volunteers and raising the awareness of the charity. We were also acompanied by some very talented musicians who were also raising funds for charity.

Volunteer Steward Teams @ Yeovil Street Fest

On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of July 2 teams of trained stewards were recruited to help out the Street Fest Crew in the general order to the day, stewarding car parks and litter picking, we also had media volunteers and circus skills workshops run by fabulous volunteers! Everyone got the chance to see some great acts of dance and music. For more info on street fest click below.

Circus Fun and Candy Floss

On Sunday 17th July 3 brilliant volunteers came and got sticky making candy floss at Bridgwater Community Free Activity day. We played with the circus kit and taught and learnt some new tricks with the public! Not to mention the constant jumping on on the Human Demolition bouncy castle.
